Modesto "Flako" Jimenez

Princess Grace Foundation-USA Works-in-Progress Resident Artist

Artist and educator Modesto "Flako" Jimenez (NYC) will develop Taxilandia, a site-specific play drawn from Flako’s nine years driving a taxicab and his conversations with passengers, residents, natives, and immigrants to his neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn. Immersing its audience in the dynamic history of a neighborhood confronting social stigmas and the realities of gentrification, Taxilandia weaves a performative tapestry that interconnects generations, social classes, races, and cultures.
