Actor Jessica Hecht will develop A Mother, a radical adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s The Mother. Focusing on the process of play-making as part of their subject matter, Hecht and company will grapple with time, memory, racism, protest, and collective history as they create a new theatrical work.

Jessica Hecht

Jessica Hecht recently had the honor of performing with Mikhail Baryshnikov in The Orchard and presently stars in Letters From Max, based on Sarah Ruhl's acclaimed memoir. She made her Broadway debut in The Last Night of Ballyhoo and has appeared on Broadway in The Price, Fiddler on the Roof, After the Fall, Julius Caesar, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Broadway Bound, A View From the Bridge (Tony nomination), Harvey, and The Assembled Parties.

This spring she will return to Broadway in Summer, 1976. Jessica has starred in numerous off-Broadway plays and performed in 12 seasons at The Williamstown Theatre Festival. TV credits include The Sinner, Special (Emmy nomination), Dickinson, Breaking Bad, and Friends. She founded The Campfire Project in 2017, a wellness-based theatre program for residents of refugee camps worldwide. campfire-project.org
