Working under the moniker GAZR, visual artist James Allister Sprang (NYC) invites audiences to engage in Turning Towards A Radical Listening, a durational sonic experience in which concrete poetry is written via auto-dictation and altered DJ technology. He is working with a process of mixing and altering speech clips sampled from conversations with various poets on the topic of “becoming.”

James Allister Sprang
James Allister Sprang, raised in Miami and currently based in Philadelphia, is a first-generation Caribbean-American. A graduate of The Cooper Union (BFA) and the University of Pennsylvania (MFA), Sprang's work exists in public spaces, gallery spaces, theater spaces, and the space generally found between the ears.
He has shown and/or performed at institutions such as Abrons Arts Center, The Apollo Theater, The Public Theater, The Brooklyn Museum, The Knockdown Center, Pioneer Works, and The Kitchen.
