7 Names: Marjani Forté-Saunders + Everett Saunders
Dance artist Marjani Forté-Saunders (NYC / Pasadena, CA) and composer Everett Saunders (NYC / Pasadena, CA) combine Saunders’ experience as an offspring of Hip Hop culture and Forté-Saunders’ kaleidoscopic directorial and choreographic approach in A Prophet’s Tale. This virtual and augmented reality performance installation and music project illuminates the journey and philosophy of a prophet/alchemist/minister/provocateur, the Emcee.

Marjani Forté-Saunders is a Mother, choreographer, performer, collaborative artist, community organizer, and most recently a three-time New York Dance and Performance “Bessie” Award winning choreographer and performer.
She is an inaugural recipient of the Jerome Artist Fellowship, and recipient of a Dance USA Fellowship, UBW Choreographic Center Fellowship, and a two-time Princess Grace Foundation awardee. Her work has been incubated in residencies at the Maggie Allesee National Choreographic Center (MANCC), Lower Manhattan Cultural Center Extended Life Residency, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, CUNY Dance Initiative, 651 Arts, and Movement Research.
Everett Saunders is a Father, composer, sound designer, audio engineer, performer, and organizer working in scoring and sound design for film, theater, and music production.
Clients include Ron Howard’s Project Imagination, award-winning filmmaker and screen writer Damon Colquouhoun, Sony Music, and DJ Cassidy’s Paradise Royal, and projects with internationally renowned contemporary dance company Urban Bush Women. In addition to A Prophet’s Tale, his collaboration with Marjani Forté-Saunders, Saunders will be premiering three new scores and music projects in 2019-20 with choreographer Jaamil Kosoko, visual artist/director Edgar Arcenaux, and new music recording artist Myra Flynn.
