Join us on Zoom for a Parlor Broadcast with Raja Feather Kelly, choreographer, director, and artistic director of the feath3r theory and New Brooklyn Theatre. In June, BAC and Princess Grace Foundation-USA offered Kelly a two-week virtual residency to support the creation of his latest project, Phantasia. Phantasia!. Working remotely with his collaborators, Kelly developed a multimedia ballet incorporating physical theater, documentary, cinéma vérité, and dance to create an alchemy in which each aspect touches and enhances the others from the moment of inception to performance. Phantasia. Phantasia! dissects and appropriates the tools of Walt Disney and his collaborators to unearth and interpret the debris of what Disney created and left behind.
Joined by his collaborators -- Sophie Maguire, Laura Snow, Kate Enman, You-Shin Chen, Tuce Yasak, and Remy Kurs -- Kelly will share material from his work-in-progress and discuss the process of transforming a traditional residency into a virtual format.
