BAC Flicks: Labyrinth Within (2010)
Swedish choreographer and dancer Pontus Lidberg directs this dance film (Jury Prize Winner for Best Picture - Dance on Camera Festival), an existential thriller about a married couple, an elusive lover, and the unpredictable world that unfolds when the line between what is real and imagined is blurred. Starring New York City Ballet principal dancer Wendy Whelan and Giovanni Bucchieri, and featuring an original score by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang.

Pontus Lidberg has created more than 25 works for major international dance companies, including Morphoses, Norwegian National Ballet, Royal Swedish Ballet, Vietnam National Ballet, Beijing Dance Theatre, the Guggenheim Museum’s Works and Process series, as well as for his own company, Pontus Lidberg Dance.
In 2003, he was commissioned by Swedish National Television to create a short dance film. The result, Mirror, was screened on television and at the Dance on Camera Festival in New York, Dance Camera West in Los Angeles, and other international dance film festivals. Mr. Lidberg received international recognition and numerous awards for his 2007 dance film The Rain. In 2010, he was artist-in-residence at Joyce SoHo and Baryshnikov Arts Center to develop his dance film Labyrinth Within. Mr. Lidberg trained at the Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm, Sweden. Among other international dance companies, he has danced with Royal Swedish Ballet, Norwegian National Ballet, Le Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, and Gothenburg Ballet.
