The Fall 2021 season of premieres commissioned by BAC includes a series of live-streamed talks with the artists about their projects and creative processes.

In conjunction with the premiere of Trip Gloss, dance artist Jordan Demetrius Lloyd talks with writer, dancer, and curator Benedict Nguyễn.

Jordan and Benedict first collaborated together on The Last Moon in Mellowland as part of Benedict's curatorial platform soft bodies in hard places. Since the film premiered in November 2020 at ISSUE Project Room, Jordan has continued working with Benedict as a creative producer.

Trip Gloss is available to watch free, on demand November 29-December 13, Monday at 5PM ET until Monday at 5PM ET.

Jordan Demetrius Lloyd

Jordan Demetrius Lloyd is a dance artist based in Brooklyn, NY. He grew up in Albany, NY, and graduated from The College at Brockport. He has collaborated with and performed for Karl Rogers, Beth Gill, Netta Yerushalmy, David Dorfman Dance, Joanna Kotze, Catherine Galasso, Monica Bill Barnes, and Tammy Carrasco.

His teaching practice has brought him to Rutgers University, the American Dance Festival, University of the Arts, and Mark Morris Dance Center. His work has been produced by New York Live Arts, BRIC, ISSUE Project Room, Danspace Project’s Draftwork Series, BAAD!, Movement Research at Judson Memorial Church, and the Center for Performance Research. Most recently, he received the 2021–23 Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship.

Benedict Nguyễn

Benedict Nguyễn is a dancer, writer, and curator based on occupied Lenape and Wappinger lands (South Bronx, New York). Their criticism has appeared in Vanity Fair, Into, and the Brooklyn Rail, among other outlets.

Recent projects include their curatorial platform soft bodies in hard places, a new research group CRINGE, their Public Art Practice, and more TBA TBA ;) They publish the newsletter “first quarter moon slush” and when not online @xbennyboo, are working on a few novels lol. benedict-nguyen.com
