BAC Open House

March 30 + 31, 2023

Please join us on Thursday, March 30 and Friday, March 31 for BAC Open House, two afternoons of free studio showings of works-in-progress by our Spring 2023 BAC Open Resident Artists.

 

Thursday, March 30

binbinFactory (Rie Fukuzawa & Satoshi Haga)
Dance
2PM / Rudolf Nureyev Studio
Rie Fukuzawa & Satoshi Haga will develop MICRO and MACRO, a microcosm of choreography and projected animations. binbinFactory’s choreography seeks to fuse aspects of Eastern and Western storytelling cultures through dance, movement, and theater.

Claude Johnson
Dance

3 PM / John Cage and Merce Cunningham Studio
Claude Johnson will develop FRANCHISE, a solo work focusing on the concept of satisfaction and inspired by his uncle’s life and experiences.

Denisa Musilova
Dance + Performance Art

4 pm / Rudolf Nureyev Studio
Denisa Musilova will develop POOL, a collaborative fusion of performance, visual art, and documentary that explores the male gaze, self-objectification, and the way power can shift as we move between looking, seeing, and being seen.

 

Friday, March 31

Welcome to Campfire (Ingrid Kapteyn & Tony Bordonaro)
Dance + Theater

2PM / Danny Kaye and Sylvia Fine Kaye Studio
Ingrid Kapteyn & Tony Bordonaro will develop the next chapter of their work The End, a devised immersive production combining dance and theater in a site-specific environment.

Zbigniew Bzymek & Kuba Falk
Theater + Multimedia

3PM / John Cage and Merce Cunningham Studio
Zbigniew Bzymek & Kuba Falk will continue to develop a multidisciplinary piece inspired by the diaries of Polish dissident writer Witold Gombrowicz in preparation for an invitation to The Gombrowicz Festival in 2023 in Poland.

Degenrate Art Ensemble (Crow Nishimura & Joshua Kohl)
Multidisciplinary

4PM / Danny Kaye and Sylvia Fine Kaye Studio
Degenerate Art Ensemble will continue to develop their current work, an interdisciplinary exploration of the connection that contemporary human beings have, or have lost, to the natural world.

 

To Attend:
On each showing day, the BAC Box Office will open at 1PM.
Free tickets for same-day showings will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.
Capacity is limited—please arrive at least 15 minutes in advance of each showing's start time.
