BeginAgain questions the multiplicity of self, memory and perspective through two parallel solos weaving in and out of each other. Juniper Shuey’s futuristic design explores new technological methods juxtaposed against Zoe Scofield’s intense, primal choreography, featuring Scofield and duet partner Ariel Freedman (Batsheva Dance Company, Kidd Pivot), triggers a raw tableaux of movement and stage designs. BeginAgain reveals an intrinsic truth about oneself and the aspects of humanity that unite us all.
BeginAgain features gorgeous, large-scale set design from paper artist Celeste Cooning, sound design by Julian Martlew, and music from Morgan Henderson (Blood Brothers, Fleet Foxes).
Co-presented by BAC and Performance Space 122 as part of COIL 2015, an annual mid-winter festival of contemporary performance from across the US and around the globe.
BeginAgain was co-commissioned by The Joyce Theater in partnership with 3-Legged Dog and On the Boards through their Dance Production Program with support from the Glenn H. Kawasaki Foundation, The Princess Grace Foundation and New England Foundation for the Arts' National Dance Project.
